I’ve Got Nothing

I took a couple of days off from writing because I just wasn’t feeling anything and well, sometimes, my real life requires my attention. I’d much rather stay right here in my own little world.

I’m having writer’s block. I like the writing process to flow organically. I assume we all prefer that, and when it’s not, I wonder, should I just write my way through it and not worry about the quality of the content or should I just wait until the creative juices start flowing again on their own?

Maybe I should break out my camera and snap some pictures. I’ve been meaning to take some closeups of my wildflower garden. It’s been raining and now it’s kind of misty out. That would make for some beautiful water droplets on the petals. Next to writing, photography and singing like no one is watching are pretty much the same level of love.

I don’t know. What do you guys do when you’re going through a dry spell?

  1. You really need to take some time off from this whenever it gets too exhausting. You need to be there for yourself, physically as well as emotionally. Sometimes it’s hard to keep going, you don’t get enough thoughts to be put into words, but that’s alright. We all need a break, even the best in the business needs a break to prevent themselves from the exhaustion. Do what makes you feel good, go on a vacation or do whatever that pleases you. Don’t be too hard on yourself, write whatever you want to, however you want to. Don’t worry about the quality of the content as long as it means something to you, you’ll get to the best version of yourself in time. I’m sure everyone here cares about you and will patiently wait for you to come back with another sweet gigglecast or something even better. Take your time, and take care of yourself. You have a lovely day Cavelle, lots of hugs and wishes ❀❀

    • Thanks, AB! πŸ™‚ ❀ You're right. Sometimes a break is just needed and we should all give ourselves permission to do that more often. And yes, worrying about it probably only makes the writer's block worse! lol on that note, I hope you are doing well and as always thank you for your encouragement and support! I hope you have a lovely day as well ❀

  2. Break out the camera. That’s what I’m doing more of. I’m trying to keep a streak going and when in doubt I post a pic. I have enough of them. But I go through the same thing as well. Another thing I do is I have a list of blog ideas. Things I want to post or write about. And to be honest, every time I go to write about something on the list I end up just talking some garbage about my day or something that has annoyed me.
    Just let it flow.

    • Thank you 😊 Also good idea! I don’t really plan my posts or ideas ahead of time so I’m thinking maybe if I’m on a streak not post it all in one day lol. I did go out and take pictures so I’ll be posting those soon πŸ™‚

  3. Giving yourself some space and time to rest can be good for me. When I feel like I need to get back into the habit, I try to go from something randomly generated. It takes some control away (which can be difficult at first), but then you’re building off of that thing, which can give you a push. I’ve specifically used a dictionary’s word of the day to give me a vague prompt/idea for a while now, and it’s helped me a lot!
